Buffalo Springs, June 2012

Buffalo Springs located to the south of the Ewaso Ng’iro River was very arid in comparison to Samburu. Despite its name the reserve had recently had a massive decline in its population of buffalo due to failing rains and in spite of Sebastian’s best efforts we were unable to locate any. Even though we were just the other side of the river from Samburu the wildlife opportunities were limited, however we did have a good sighting of two female lions and some larger herds of oryx, zebra (though only a few Grevy’s) and Grant’s gazelle.
