Masai Mara, June 2012 – Part 1

Following our time in Samburu and Buffalo Springs we flew to the Masai Mara, where we were met at the airstrip by Denis, our guide for our stay in the Mara. We were giving the option of going out straight on a game drive or freshen up first at the camp, we of course jumped at opportunity to soak up the our new environment. This turned out to be a great decision as within ten minutes we stumbled upon three male lions lazing in the afternoon sun. After staying with them for a while to see if anything would develop we decided to leave them in pursuit of a herd of elephants we could see in the distance. Later we returned to the lions, which were now a little bit more active and alert, occasionally getting up to shift position, though it was clear that they definitely weren’t going anywhere soon. more…
