The Epic Adventures Photo Competition

The outdoor gear store Blacks have teamed up with the adventure travel company Explore for a new photo competition, Epic Adventures. The winner will receive £2000 to spend on an adventure holiday, from trekking the Inca Trail to polar voyages in one of the last true wilderness areas. The four runners up will receive £150 to spend in Blacks to prepare them for future adventures.  To enter all you need to do is submit photos that sum up each of the four categories – wild, fast, panoramic and epic.  Here are my entries….

It’s hard to find a more wild location than Arizona’s Wildcat Trail, located in the home of America’s Wild West.  The walk trails through the desert landscape and crosses the sandy plans to one of Monument Valley’s most famous landforms West Mitten Butte. With only a sketchy map and the odd occasional small pile of stones marking the way, you are filled with a real sense of scale and vastness as you pass the looming sandstone giants.  This walk is best attempted in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat of the day, also don’t forget to keep an eye out for signs of the elusive wild cat.
